The Parkduv dairy herd, which is one of the top EBI herds in the country, is owned by Kevin and Bernie Downing and managed by Tom Carr and his assistant James Wycherley.

Success for the Downings is being able to continuously improve the sustainability of the farm through better breeding and grass production, while also taking better care of the environment.

The herd consists of 150 pedigree holstein cows, averaging 6,380 litres of milk at 4.60% fat and 3.71% protein with 547kgs of milk solids delivered to the Co-Op – Co-op Performance

The Parkduv herd has been responsible for breeding some of the top AI bulls used in Ireland over the last 15 years e.g. Parkduv Mark (PKK), Parkduv Magnet (PKX), Parkduv Mount Everest (PKR) (pdf), Parkduv Daffy (FR2004), Parkduv Falcon (FR4100), Parkduv Swift (FR4126), Parkduv Setanta (FR4848), Parkduv Andes (FR6145) (pdf), Parkduv Osorno (FR7110) and Parkduv Magical (FR2534)
